First-aid in the Workplace
A mandatory training for all businesses
The CSST sees to the administration and application of laws and regulations governing occupational health and safety in Quebec. The First-aid Minimum Standards Regulation requires that the employer of an establishment or the principal contractor of a construction site guarantees a minimum number of first-aid workers in the workplace and during working hours and an efficient first-aid service.
The first-aid workers in the workplace are employees who, at the end of a 16 hour training, acquire the required knowledge and skills to intervene during a medical emergency or work-related accident.
Santinel Inc. is the most important first-aid training organisation and provider accredited by the CSST in Quebec. The organisation covers the CSST for the following regions: Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, Valleyfield, Yamaska, the Laurentians, Lanaudière, the Mauricie, the Outaouais and Richelieu.
