Did you know that cardiorespiratory arrest leads to the death of more persons annually than the sum of deaths caused by breast cancer, prostate cancer, firearms and road accidents? Yet, the survival of cardiorespiratory arrest victims can depend on the use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED).

The use of such a device is proven to increase the chances of success of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the survival of victims of a cardiac arrest. In the absence of the use of an AED within the first twelve minutes of a resuscitation, only 2% to 5% of the victims survive.
