First aid for childcare centres: vital training

Younger children are the most susceptible to having accidents and it is essential that the persons who care for them know what action to take in case of an emergency. This is why the Quebec Act with respect to childcare centres and childcare services (R.S.Q. c. C-8.2, a. 73) states that “a day care centre permit holder shall ensure that each of his/her staff members holds a certificate dating back no more than 3 years and attesting that the member has successfully completed a general first-aid course of at least 8 hours, or a refresher course of at least 6 hours intended to update the knowledge acquired in the course referred to in paragraph 1”.
Mandatory training
A first aid certificate is required for all the childcare centre workers, from the preschool helper to the caretaker to the cook.
Santinel is accredited by the federal government, the government of Quebec, the CSST and the Heart & Stroke Foundation to provide sound lifesaving and first-aid training. Over 40 instructors in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) form its Quebec team (Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, Valleyfield, the Laurentians, Lanaudière, Yamaska, the Mauricie, the Outaouais and the Richelieu being serviced).
Whether you need a complete 8-hour training course or a 6-hour refresher course, we offer you a single fee of $55. This sum is tax-deductible and can also be used within the context of the Act to Foster the Development of Manpower Training (Bill 90) which requires that all employers allot an amount representing at least 1% of their payroll to provide training to their personnel.
