Every seven minutes, a person succumbs to a heart disease or cerebrovascular accident (CVA) in Canada. According to Statistics Canada, cardiovascular diseases are responsible for the death of Canadians more than any other disease. Cardiac arrest constitutes a medical emergency which requires a rapid intervention to ensure its chances of success. Only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can keep a person in cardiorespiratory arrest alive until the intervention of pre-hospital emergency services.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is an emergency intervention which combines thoracic compressions (pressures on the chest) and artificial respiration (emergency respiration). It is important to know that defibrillation can allow your heart in fibrillation to start beating again.
Now there is no need to be a doctor anymore to save lives! The new automatic external defibrillator (AED) allows even persons outside the medical sphere to restore heart rhythm and save lives.
Santinel is accredited by the federal government, the Quebec government, the CSST and the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Quebec to provide a solid first-aid and lifesaving training.
