Training in WHMIS
The use of dangerous goods in the workplace increases the incidence of diseases and injuries for employees in contact with them.
The regulation on Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) aims precisely at protecting the staff and the public against such incidents by ensuring the information on dangerous products is transmitted and understood by the users of dangerous products.
The WHMIS forces the leaders of organizations to:
- Make the data sheets available for all of the products to be found in the workplace;
- Ensure adequate labeling of all containers of dangerous products;
- Train employees on the safe use of dangerous goods.
